  • Steamed Pear with Chocolate Sauce
    Steamed Pear with Chocolate Sauce
    Ingredients
    • 1 large pear – peeled with stem intact
    • Lemon juice
    • 1 oz. chocolate
    Preparation time: 2 minutes
    Cooking time: 3 minutes
    Serves 1

    Directions

    1. Rub the pear with lemon juice to avoid discoloration.

    2. Place the pear in a medium Steamfast Bag and seal well.

    3. Place bag in microwave and cook on HIGH for 3 minutes.

    4. Allow bag to stand 30 seconds before handling.

    5. Carefully open bag and pour out content.

    6. Place 1oz chocolate in a small microwave safe dish and cook on HIGH for 30 second. Stir to finish melting chocolate.

    7. Drizzle over pear as a sauce


    Variation: Try the same recipe with halved plums and serve with cream or ice cream.

    Cooking time is based on 1200 WT microwave. If WT differs, adjust cooking time in 30 sec increments.

  • Cranberry Ginger Pears
    Cranberry Ginger Pears
    Ingredients
    • 2 ripe dessert pears - peeled
    • 1 tbsps ginger wine
    • 1-2 tbsps cranberry juice
    • 1 tbsp honey
    • 2-4 tbsps dried cranberries
    • Mint sprigs for decoration

    This dessert may be served hot or cold. If serving cold, allow to cool and transfer to a serving bowl. Cover and chill in the fridge for up to 12 hours.

    Preparation time: 2 minutes
    Cooking time: 4 minutes
    Serves 2

    Directions

    1. Trim the base from the pears so that they stand flat. .

    2. Place the pear in a medium Steamfast Bag.

    3. Add the ginger wine, cranberry juice, honey and dried cranberries together.

    4. Shake bag gently, place in microwave and cook on HIGH for 4 minutes until the pears are just softened.

    5. Allow bag to stand 1 minute before handling.

    6. Carefully open bag and pour out content.

    7. Serve the pears with the juices, decorated with mint


    Tip: For a really warming and rich sauce, substitute 2 tbsp. of port for half of the cranberry juice.

  • Chocolate Apples

    Ingredients
    • 4 ripe, medium-sized dessert apples – washed and cored
    • 2 oz. milk chocolate
    • 4 tbsp. ground almonds
    • 1 oz raisins
    • 2 tbsp. unsweetened apple juice
    Preparation time: 10 minutes
    Cooking time: 2 1/2 minutes
    Serves 4

    Directions

    1. Grate the chocolate into a mixing bowl and stir in the ground almond, raising and apple juice. Mix well.

    2. Fill each apple with the mixture until it almost overflows.

    3. Place filled apples in a Steamfast bag.

    4. Place bag in microwave and cook on HIGH for 2 1/2 minutes until the apples are just softened.

    5. Allow bag to stand 1 minute before handling.

    6. Carefully open bag and pour out content.


    Tip: We have left the peel on the apples as they give a good color and add fiber to the diet. If preferred, peel the apples before filling with the chocolate mixture.

    Ingredients
    • 2oz washed fresh strawberries or 2oz frozen
    • 2oz washed fresh blueberries or 2oz frozen
    • 2oz washed fresh raspberries or 2oz frozen
    Preparation time: 1 minute
    Cooking time: 1 minute
    Serves 2-4

    Directions

    1. Place berries in a Steamfast bag.

    2. Place bag in microwave and cook on HIGH for 1 minute.

    3. Allow bag to stand 30 seconds before handling.

    4. Carefully open bag, pour over cake or ice cream and Enjoy!
